APCO Standards Activities In Progress:

Candidate APCO ANS 3.103.1-200x: Minimum Training Standards for Public Safety Telecommunicator

 

This APCO standard identifies the minimum training requirements for public safety communications telecommunicators. This position is typically charged with receiving, processing, transmitting, and conveying public safety information to dispatchers, law enforcement officers, fire fighters, emergency medical and emergency management personnel. This document seeks to define training in certain knowledge, skills, and abilities to be provided to telecommunicators by the agency.

 

Public Review and Comment Period ended October 26, 2009. Comments have been reviewed and proposals for substantive changes will be released shortly.

Candidate APCO/NPSTC ANS 1.104.1-200x: Standard Channel Nomenclature for the Public Safety Interoperability Channels

 

This document provides a standardized naming format for each Federal Communications Commission (FCC) designated Interoperability Channel in the Public Safety Radio Services. The initial Public Review and Comment Period ended November 30, 2009. An additional public review and comment period is February 5 - March 7. This additional review and comment period is only for the proposed addition. To review the proposed addition, click here.

If so, you will want to participate in an upcoming QA Occupational Analysis Workshop. There are no costs to attend, but seats are limited and only open to those knowledgeable of or responsible for quality assurance/quality improvement programs within public safety communications centers. There are four upcoming workshops: February 9 - Waterford, CT; February 17 - Harrisonville, MO; February 19 - Glendale Heights, IL and February 19 - Palo Alto, CA. Limited travel reimbursement is available for qualified regional representatives, for more information and to reserve your seat, e-mail standards@apco911.org
