Alexandria, VA – Today the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International kicked off the first day of its virtual Emerging Technology Forum with a special message from actor and host of ABC’s “Emergency Call” Luke Wilson recognizing the life-saving work performed by 9-1-1 call takers. This was followed by a keynote address from FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel who offered her perspective on how to advance public safety communications.
The three-day virtual event includes 29 speakers from across the country representing emergency communications centers large and small, government agencies, representatives from manufacturers and service providers, and other stakeholders in public safety communications. In addition, attendees can visit 15 virtual exhibitors as well as meet up with other attendees in the networking lounges.
“During these unprecedented times we must get creative with how we can deliver the high-quality education and networking opportunities our members and past attendees expect from APCO events,” said Derek Poarch, CEO and Executive Director of APCO International. “The Emerging Technology Forum seemed like the perfect opportunity to host our first virtual event. This format has allowed us to expand the program, increasing the number of speakers, exhibitors and attendees.”
The virtual Tech Forum is being held December 1-3 and attendees can earn up to 12 CDEs. The platform will be available to registered attendees for up to 90 days after the event.
