APCO Launches New Certification Course: Communications Center Manager

Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International announces the release of its newest course, Communications Center Manager, 1st Edition. This comprehensive course is designed to equip aspiring communication center managers or directors with the essential knowledge, skills and abilities needed to excel in the management of emergency communication centers (ECCs).

The Communications Center Manager course covers a wide range of topics crucial for effective management within ECCs. Some key highlights of the curriculum include:

  • Understanding the role of the communication center manager within the broader agency context.
  • Exploring the workplace context and essential professional knowledge and skills for effective management.
  • Managing workplace talent and developing strategies for leading and nurturing a high-performing team.
  • Mastering the operational and administrative aspects of running an ECC, including performance, initiatives, projects and quality control.
  • Understanding liability issues, risk management and implementing performance accountability measures.

Registration is open for the first communication center manager online course, which begins on April 10, 2024. Upon successful completion of the course, participants earn the communications center manager APCO certification.
