Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International is seeking comments for the candidate American National Standard (ANS) for Core Competencies and Minimum Training Standards for Public Safety Communications Manager/Director.
The revision of this standard identifies the core competencies and minimum training requirements for the public safety communications manager/director position, which is typically tasked with managing and directing all aspects of an emergency communications center (ECC).
“It is paramount that managers and directors of ECCs have the skills, knowledge and leadership qualities to run their agencies effectively.” said Jason Kern, APCO International President. “This standard promotes training to develop these talents in order to successfully provide lifesaving services.”
The public may review and comment on this candidate standard from November 5 until December 20, 2021.
