Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International has issued a call for participation in the creation of a new technical standard titled 700 MHz Deployable Public Safety Trunking Systems. This standard will expand on best practices developed by the National Regional Planning Council (NRPC) and covers both the provisioning of deployable trunked radio systems and programming of subscriber radio equipment when providing mutual aid.
“Creating a comprehensive standard for the provisioning of deployable trunked radio systems and programming subscriber radio equipment is a crucial step toward ensuring seamless interoperability, especially during mutual aid situations,” said Becky Neugent, President of APCO International. “It is essential to outline technical specifications, protocols and operational guidelines to facilitate effective communication across different systems and equipment.”
APCO International is seeking volunteers to establish a working group of diverse stakeholders to contribute to the development of this standard. All interested persons, including producers, users and those with general interest, should complete the online application at Join a Working Group.
The deadline to sign up is January 14, 2024. Selections will be made within a few weeks of the deadline date, and all will be notified of their status via email. Additional information can be obtained by contacting the Standards Program Manager at [email protected] or by calling 469-424-7599.
