Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International has filed a Project Initiation with ANSI and issued a call for participation for work group members to participate in the creation of an ANSI standard titled Non-9-1-1 Call Processing and Dispatch. As new services become available to the public, emergency communications centers will be tasked with receiving and processing calls from sources other than 9-1-1 requiring new policies and procedures.
“The operations of our emergency communications centers (ECCs) are advancing as new services become available to those answering the call for help,” said Jason Kern, APCO International President. “This standard will provide guidance as ECCs navigate these types of calls.”
APCO is looking for a well-balanced group, including contributions from training, technical and operational subject matter experts. All Interested persons should complete the online application indicating their preference for this work group. The deadline is October 24, 2021. Selections will be made within two weeks of the deadline and all applicants will be notified of their status.
