APCO Files a Project Initiation and Seeks Working Group Members to Revise the American National Standard Minimum Training Standard for Public Safety Telecommunicator

Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International has filed a Project Initiation with ANSI and has issued a call for participation for working group members to participate in the revision of the APCO ANS Minimum Training Standards for Public Safety Telecommunicators.

This standard identifies minimum training, knowledge and skills needed for both new and veteran telecommunicators tasked with the duties of call taking and dispatch of law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services.

“As the premiere public safety communications standards development organization, APCO continues to seek highly performing incumbent workers when revising existing standards,” said Angela Batey, President of APCO International. “This ensures the standards are current with recommendations, requirements, and best practices”.

APCO International is seeking volunteers to establish a working group of diverse stakeholders to contribute to the revision and redesignation of this standard. All interested persons should complete the online application and indicate their preference for this working group at Working Group Sign Up Page.

Application deadline is December 19, 2022.  Selections will be made within two weeks of the closing date and all applicants will be notified of their status.
