Bipartisan resolutions were introduced in the House and Senate last week supporting the goals and ideals of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (NPSTW). The resolutions honor and recognize the important and lifesaving contributions of public safety telecommunications professionals in the United States. We thank Senators Amy Klobuchar (MN) and Ted Budd (NC) and Representatives Norma Torres (CA) and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA) for introducing the resolutions.
Regarding the resolutions, APCO President Stephen Martini said, “We are thankful to these members of Congress for taking this step to celebrate our headset heroes who are the critical first step in every emergency response across the country. States across the nation are recognizing through legislation the critical work of public safety telecommunicators as the first first responders. We’re eager to see our federal legislators follow suit by including these professionals with the protective service class of occupations.”
