Matthew J. Knight, 48, passed away Nov. 29. Knight was a public safety communications industry professional who served as commercial advisor to Missouri APCO.
Knight started his career in public safety as a national sales engineer for Sprint and Century Link where he applied his studies in criminal justice to support public safety agencies around the country. He moved on to Spatial Data Research where he became vice president and director of marketing and sales.
Knight was passionate about public safety communications and served many years as the commercial advisor for Missouri APCO and fulfilled that same role for Missouri NENA. He became an incredible asset to the board of the Missouri Public Safety Communications Conference, which hosts the combined conference for MOAPCO, MONENA and the Missouri 9-1-1 Directors Association. His superb coordination of commercial partners who attended MPSCC led to so much demand for display that there routinely was a waiting list of commercial partners wanting a booth.
His drive and passion improved the conferences and he made Missouri APCO better chapter for having been a member.
Knight was survived by his wife Penny Drosselmeyer; son Reece; father Wayne Knight Sr. and brothers, Wayne Knight Jr. and Bill Knight. Knight’s obituary is available here.
