Silent Key: Weldon Joe Blair

Weldon Joe Blair, 88, a life and senior member of APCO, passed away January 4.

Joe was a U.S. Army veteran and worked on classified projects for Collins Radio. He also worked at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. A lifetime member of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), Joe enjoyed meeting and talking to people worldwide as a Ham Radio operator.

Named for Joe, The Weldon Joe Blair Award of Distinction recognizes exceptional accomplishments by an individual member of APCO on a national or international level as a leader of the Association.  He received the Weldon Joe Blair Award in 2001

He was also a member of the Historical Committee for two years (2010-2012) and the Spectrum Management Commiteed for two years (2010-2012). 

Joe was married 68 years to his wife Mildred who survives him along with son Joe and daughter Connie.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Cathedral, 5100 Ross Ave., Dallas, with a reception to follow.
