Chris Richardson, Mental Health Center of Denver, and Jodi Slate, DEM, Denver 9-1-1 Communications
During this session, representatives from the Denver 9-1-1 Communications Center and Support Team Assisted Response (STAR) Program described their approach to an alternative response program for low-risk, low-acuity 9-1-1 calls. Presenters Jodie Slate and Chris Richardson discussed the partnership involved with creating processes and protocols to safely dispatch civilians to incidents that do not require a traditional first responder dispatch. Among other things, the speakers highlighted the value of a data-driven approach and a close collaboration between the 9-1-1 center and social services department.
