APCO Institute Co-Host Application

Thank you for your interest in co-hosting an APCO Institute training course. With your assistance, we can bring high-quality APCO training to your community at no charge to you or your agency.

APCO Institute offers a wide variety of classes to co-host. All are taught by an APCO Institute Adjunct Instructor.

We require two to three months advance notice so that we may properly promote the class and make all of the preparations to be sure that your class is a success. APCO Institute reserves the right of final decision on the exact dates for the class and the minimum number of students for each class. Classes that do not meet the minimum required number of registrants may be cancelled.

As the co-host, there are a few things that we require of you and your agency:

Complete and submit this co-host application to the APCO Institute.
Contact local agencies in your area to invite their staff members to participate in the class.
Provide a suitable classroom facility for the class. (See details in the co-host application.)
Designate a staff member to receive and hold the shipment of books and materials for the class,
and to ensure that those materials are available to the instructor at least one hour prior to the
start of the first day of class.
Designate a staff member to facilitate instructor/student introductions.
Assist the instructor as needed.

Institute classes are conducted in nine-hour blocks (i.e., from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; from 6:00 pm to 3:00 am), with a one-hour lunch break. Classes can be scheduled around the needs of the agency (i.e, day, evenings, nights, weekends). Class dates are dependent on instructor availability and are not confirmed until directed by the APCO Institute training coordinator.

An agency’s marketing and outreach strategies are key to the success of your APCO course(s). Once course details are confirmed, your APCO representative will provide tools and strategies to assist your agency in marketing their course(s).

The co-host classroom must meet the following requirements:

Classroom suitable for a maximum of 30 students
Dry erase board
Speakers
Internet access
Tables and chairs (no student desks)
Projector (with hookups) and suitable screen
Access to a copy machine
Space for social distancing according to your agency’s policy

Textbook Delivery Information
APCO Institute provides the materials to be used in the class, which are shipped approximately ten days prior to the class start date. Shipment can consist of one to five boxes, depending on the number of students registered and the type of class being taught. Course materials are shipped by FedEx; Course materials MUST be signed for by an individual. They will ship to agency business addresses ONLY, not to P.O. boxes. The co-host is responsible for providing the name, phone number and shipping address for the person responsible for accepting this delivery, safeguarding it and ensuring it is at the class site on the first day of class.

We would like to co-host an APCO Institute class. Our agency/chapter is committed to assisting with this effort and will assist APCO Institute in bringing this class to our community.

We also understand that there is a “minimum number of registrants” rule and understand that APCO Institute may cancel the class if the prescribed minimum number of registrants has not registered with APCO Institute by twenty-one (21) days prior to the start of the class.

We agree to provide adequate classroom space to APCO Institute at no charge, as noted in this co-host application. We also agree to accept the shipment of class materials and to deliver those materials unopened to the class instructor at the class site no less than one hour prior to the beginning of class.

We understand that students are required to complete the course rules, course evaluation and final exam via the APCO Institute Online training site. We also understand that students have 48 hours from the end of scheduled instruction to complete the final exam. All final exam times are in Eastern time zone; ensure to adjust for your your time zone.
