APCO and NENA Ask Harris, Trump Campaigns to Support NG9-1-1 Funding and Nationwide Implementation

Joint Letters Call for Modernizing America’s 9-1-1 Systems to Better Protect First Responders and the Public in Every Community

Alexandria, VA — Today, APCO International and NENA: The 9-1-1 Association sent joint letters to the presidential campaigns of Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz, and former President Donald Trump and Senator J.D. Vance, inviting a campaign pledge to support full federal funding for the nationwide implementation of Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1).

The letters, co-signed by APCO International CEO and Executive Director Mel Maier and NENA CEO Brian Fontes, emphasize that broadly supported, bipartisan legislation to upgrade the nation’s half-century-old 9-1-1 infrastructure is available today, and “NG9-1-1 will begin saving lives the moment it is implemented.”

The full text of the letter to the Harris/Walz campaign can be viewed here and the letter to the Trump/Vance campaign can be found here. Maier and Fontes are available for interviews.
